The Proper Love of Money is a weekly podcast applying macro-economic theory to real world situations. Your hosts are Ken Koschnitzki and Agnes Fekete. Our primary focus is on the commodity of silver, and how it can be used to preserve purchasing power well into the future. We track the silver market both on the Comex and real world silver prices on Ebay.com. We started podcasting in August of 2008 just in time for the global economic meltdown, and as a result Ken has had a lot of catching up to do to get his head around all of the jargon and contributing factors. Some of the topic for discussion have been:
- What are the four functions of money and the seven qualities that define money
- How has going off the Gold and Silver standard changed the way money is valued
- What are derivatives, the Futures Market and short selling
- How is the global currency market structured
- The three legged financial stool (paper money or fiat currency, gold and silver, and the stuff you buy with money) and why it is important to keep a balance
- Terms – inflation, hyperinflation, deflation, stagflation
- Why falling interest rates have created capital destruction and thus caused this meltdown
- Phantom capital
